Rick Elias and the Ragamuffins will be performing as part of a couple tribute celebrations commemorating the life and ministry of Rich Mullins. See the Dates Page for more info. Also see the Links Page for a couple new links relating to Rick.

The Ragamuffins are officially retired.

I suppose it was inevitable, with all the other projects the guys now have, not to mention the completion over the last few years of not one but two of Rich's last requests - recording a project of "songs about Jesus" with everyone sharing lead vocals & songwriting, and then recording a project completely on their own. I hope to have an official "farewell letter" for you from Rick Elias in the next few weeks.

The LegacyFest 2000 in Wichita (August 4th and 5th) was a great weekend for arts, music, and ministry. Click here for the LegacyFest scrapbook (4 pages of over 100 pictures). One bit of news from the weekend... Aaron Smith has moved onto other ventures, and the new drummer for the Ragamuffins is Steve Latanation.

One bit of news that slipped through the cracks, was the release of the official CD for World Youth Day 2000 in Rome entitled, One, which includes "Il Tuo Strumento," the Italian-language version of the song "Make Me an Instrument" by the Ragamuffins. The Ragamuffins are home from Europe. Steve Stockman, rhythms of redemption, has posted a review and a diary of their visit to Ireland.

The long awaited Ragamuffin Prayers is now available! This collection of stories, songs, poems, and prayers has been artistically compiled (from several well known contributers, including Rich Mullins, Beaker, the Ragamuffins, and many former ragamuffins) by Jimmy Abegg - with dozens of awesome photos taken by Jimmy all over the world. Don't forget to call your favorite CCM radio station and request "My Heart Already Knows" and/or "Bouncing Off The Ceiling." Both were released today.

Also, liner notes for prayers of a ragamuffin (some not included with the CD) can now be found on the dates page.

Whew! We made it past Y2K with barely a scratch into the last year of this millennium.

Get ready to call your local radio stations next month. Two new singles from prayers of a ragamuffin will be released. On Friday, February 18th "My Heart Already Knows" will be released to AC (Adult Contemporary), and "Bouncing Off The Ceiling" will be released to CHR (Christian Hit Radio).

Their first CD, The Jesus Record, was a wonderful recording, and the new one is a perfect followup. Go to the "disc page" to hear sound clips, and read the song lyrics.
